A jury in New Hampshire has ordered the oil giant Exxon-Mobil to pay $236 million to clean up groundwater polluted with a gasoline additive. It took the jurors less than two hours Tuesday to find Exxon liable for damages. New Hampshire sued Exxon and more than 20 other defendents for contaminating groundwater with MTBE, a gasoline additive that cuts emissions from cars. Lawyers for the state say the companies knew MTBE was likely to pollute and is hard to clean up. Exxon says it will appeal. ...
