A magnitude 6.9 earthquake has struck the western Chinese region of Sichuan. The U.S. Geological Survey says Saturday's quake was centered 115 kilometers northwest of the town of Leshan. It occurred at a depth of 16.4 kilometers below the surface. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury. A 6.9 magnitude quake is capable of causing severe damage.

Al Neuharth, the founder of USA Today newspaper and the Newseum has died. He was 89. Neuharth died Friday after sustaining injuries in a fall at his home in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Neuharth launched USA Today, America's most widely read newspaper, in 1982 as head of the Gannett newspaper group.
