Afghanistan's intelligence agency has thwarted a major terrorist attack in the capital and arrested a Pakistani national in connection with the attempted strike.
The agency says the suspect was driving a truck filled with explosives when he was arrested Thursday on a road just east of Kabul.
It says the man aimed to use the truck bomb in a suicide attack, but did not disclose the suspected target.
The arrest came a day after a suicide attack on the same road killed at least seven people and wounded 17 others, mostly children. In that attack, a suicide car bomber and militants disguised as women attacked a heavily secured compound housing hundreds of international workers.
The Taliban claimed responsibility.
