American folk musician Richie Havens, who was the first performer at the Woodstock music festival, has died. His family said Havens died of a heart attack in New Jersey Monday. He was 72. Havens opened the three-day 1969 Woodstock Festival with the song Freedom, and performed for three hours. The concert was the turning point of his career.
