Famed American composer and conductor Marvin Hamlisch has died after a brief illness, his family announced Tuesday. He was 68. Hamlisch composed more than 40 motion picture scores, including the Oscar-winning score and song for the The Way We Were, the film starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford. He also received an Academy Award for his score for The Sting, which starred Redford and Paul Newman. For that film, Hamlisch adapted the music of ragtime composer Scott Joplin. Hamlisch ...
