Final Coroner's Report Reveals Drug Paraphernalia Found Near Whitney Houston's Body
Apr 5th 2012, 13:23

A final medical examiner's report says U.S. singing star Whitney Houston drowned in a bathtub filled with extremely hot water, with drug paraphernalia in the bathroom nearby.

The coroner's office in Los Angeles, California released a lengthy report Wednesday on the autopsy conducted on Houston, who died in February at a luxury hotel.  The office ruled back in March that the singer, 48, accidentally drowned, with cocaine use and heart disease playing a contributing role in her death.

The final report says Houston was discovered lying face down in about 30 centimeters of water that was over 30 degrees Celsius. Police investigators discovered a "white powdery substance" on a mirror in the bathroom, along with a small spoon containing "a crystal-like substance."

The report did not identify the substance found in the bathroom.  Small traces of cocaine were found in Houston's bloodstream, along with small traces of marijuana and prescription drugs.

Whitney Houston sold more than 170 million records during in the 1980s and 90s, but her career was derailed by her years-long cocaine addiction.
