The governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Farouk el-Okdah, said on Sunday he had not resigned from his post, denying a report aired on state television the previous day which said he had stepped down. Egypt's Cabinet had already denied the report the previous day. "I did not resign,'' el-Okdah told reporters at the Cabinet headquarters on Sunday after a meeting with a ministerial committee for economic policies. Sonia Gandhi, chief of the ruling Congress party, emerged from her residence after midnight to talk to the protesters.  She went out again later Sunday with her son, Rahul, who is widely seen as a future prime minister. The holiday display is thought to be in response to North Korea's recent launching of a long-range rocket that South Korea and the U.S. say was a test of banned missile technology. The lighted structure was decorated by church groups and  will be on display until early January. Pyongyang considers the tower to be propaganda warfare, but has ...
