Obama: IRS Acting Director Resigns in Scandal May 15th 2013, 22:32 U.S. President Barack Obama says he has accepted the resignation of the acting director of the Internal Revenue Service in the scandal over extra scrutiny given to conservative groups that applied for tax-exempt status. Obama also said he ordered Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to implement better safeguards to avoid such improper actions by tax officials in the future.
