Death Penalty Not a deterrent to Criminals, Says Gambia Opposition Leader Aug 20th 2012, 23:16 The leader of Gambia's opposition People's Progressive Party says the government's use of the death penalty is not likely to deter criminals. Omar Jallow called on religious groups and civil society organizations to put pressure on President Yahya Jammeh's administration to stop the use of capital punishments in the West African country.
