Francois Hollande Takes Office in France May 15th 2012, 09:15 Francois Hollande has been sworn in as France's new president. One of his first acts of official business will be a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin to discuss the European sovereign debt crisis. Hollande arrived at the Elysee Palace in Paris for a brief meeting with outgoing president Nicolas Sarkozy.  After the swearing-in, Hollande is expected to name Jean-Marc Ayrault, the parliamentary leader of the Socialist party, as prime minister.  Ayrault ...
